Our Flight Adventures

Christopher was such a well-behaved little boy that most of the flight attendents didn't even know he was there until the end of the flight! The flight to Ohio was completely uneventful. He didn't cry once...in fact he slept through the whole thing. I even had trouble getting him to wake up to eat during take-off and landing. (On the way back to Utah we missed our flight and ended up spending another night in Kent, giving us time to watch 8am-12pm of 24 season 1.) The flights back to Utah the next morning were a whole different story. He behaved well, but they were a lot more exhausting. The flight to Atlanta was great...he ate during take-off and landing, stayed awake (but calm) during the flight, and sort of tried to eat during the landing. once we landed in Atlanta things went crazy! As we were waiting for our flight to Salt Lake Christopher decided he hadn't eaten nearly enough (no surprise there!) and began to fuss. Due to the tornado warning, our flight was delayed just a little. After a bit they announced our fight was indefinitely delayed because our plane had been re-routed to Knoxville. Delta Airlines then looked for and eventually found another plane. We waited for the new plane to arrive, Christopher fussed, Steve rushed to finish his UT Southwestern application, I stood in line for our boarding passes...Steve somehow managed to finish his application online and feed the baby all at the same time. Shortly thereafter another announcement was made stating that our new plane wouldn't be leaving Atlanta until 6pm because it needed servicing (a new engine). After all that we ended up on a third plane leaving only 2 hours late. Needless to say little Christopher was a bit fussy at this point. Somehow we made it through that extremely boring 4 hour flight with a fussy baby who wouldn't eat well and severe sleep deprivation. (Never make plans to sleep on the plane and stay up late the night before...things may not turn out the way you'd like.) In the end we spent way too much time in airports, on planes, and then 2 hours traveling back to Provo by car (when it should have taken no more than 45 minutes). I'm just glad Christopher travels so well and sleeps well with noise.
